About Doppler Ultrasound Exams in Greenwood, IN

During your Doppler ultrasound analysis at our Greenwood, IN office, one of our experienced physicians will pass a Doppler handheld device lightly over your skin and above blood vessels. This device, called a transducer, sends and receives sound waves which are then amplified through a microphone. These sound waves bounce off solid objects such as blood cells. As the blood cells move throughout your veins and arteries, a change in pitch can be heard in the sound waves. These changes in sound are referred to as the Doppler effect.
